Frequently asked questions
1. Is Plico free?
Yes, Plico is free, downloadable from the App Store or the Google Play Store, requires no account creation, and contains no ads.
2. How do I add a handwritten signature in Plico?
Tap the “Signatures” tab, then tap the “+” button. You can choose from three methods: draw a signature with your finger, type your name choosing from different fonts, or import a photo of a signature already in your gallery.
3. How do I place a signature on a document open in Plico?
Select the signature by tapping it once, then tap the spot on the document where you want it to appear. On Android, you can also drag the signature thumbnail directly to the desired spot on the document.
4. How can I sign with CIE (Italian electronic ID card) using Plico?
Once you’ve filled in or graphically signed the document, tap “Done” and then “Sign with CIE”. You can select one of your CIE cards already saved in Plico, or use a new one: follow the on-screen instructions to enter your PIN and hold the card near your phone’s NFC antenna (usually located on the back) to complete the digital signature.
5. How do I delete a document uploaded to Plico?
Swipe the document from right to left to reveal the red trash icon and tap it, or press and hold on the document to open a menu and select “Delete”.
6. How can I check if a document has been digitally signed?
Documents digitally signed via CIE or a qualified digital signature issued by a recognized certification authority are marked with a blue rosette icon. Tapping this icon shows the signers and certification authorities of the digital signatures present on the document.
7. Does Plico support the p7m format?
No, Plico doesn’t yet support CAdES signatures (p7m extension); it only supports PAdES signatures.

No, Plico doesn’t collect any data. We don’t know which documents you sign, which data or metadata you process with Plico, or which handwritten or CIE signatures you use. Plico can work completely offline, except for verifying digital signatures on a document, since an internet connection is needed to check certificate revocation status via OCSP services.
