Frequently asked questions
1. Is Plico really free?
Yes, Plico is completely free, downloadable from the App Store or Google Play Store, requires no account creation, and contains no ads. Plico was built for people like us who just want to fill out and sign a PDF document quickly and easily, and we want it to stay free, forever :)
2. Does Plico collect my data?
No, Plico doesn’t collect any data. And we, the developers, don’t want to collect any user data. We don’t know which documents you sign, which data or metadata you process with Plico, or which graphic or CIE signatures you use. Plico can work completely offline, except for verifying digital signatures on a document, since an Internet connection is needed to check certificate revocation status via OCSP services.
3. Why should I use Plico instead of CIESign?
Plico was designed and built for everyone; for anyone who needs an app to fill out and sign PDF documents without having to print them. Unlike CIESign, where you can only sign documents with a single graphic signature and a single CIE card, in Plico you can:
- Fill out and graphically sign PDF documents;
- Use and save more than one CIE card in the app;
- Open and sign password-protected PDF documents;
This makes Plico a more flexible app, suited to anyone who needs to sign a PDF document and also fill it out. In short, we help you save money on printer cartridges, or even the cost of a new printer.
4. How do I add a graphic signature in Plico?
Tap the “Signatures” tab, then tap the “+” button. You can choose from three methods: draw a signature with your finger, type your name choosing from different fonts, or import a photo of a signature already in your gallery.
5. How do I place a signature on a document open in Plico?
Select the signature by tapping it once, then tap the spot on the document where you want it to appear. On Android, you can also drag the signature thumbnail directly to the desired spot on the document.
6. How can I sign with CIE (Italian electronic ID card) using Plico?
Once you’ve filled in or graphically signed the document, tap “Done” and then “Sign with CIE”. You can select one of your CIE cards already saved in Plico, or use a new one: follow the on-screen instructions to enter your PIN and hold the card near your phone’s NFC antenna (usually located on the back) to complete the digital signature.
7. How do I delete a document uploaded to Plico?
Swipe the document from right to left to reveal the red trash icon and tap it, or press and hold on the document to open a menu and select “Delete”. This only removes the copy stored in Plico on your device; the original file outside the app is left untouched.
8. How can I check if a document has been digitally signed?
Documents digitally signed via CIE or a qualified digital signature issued by a recognized certification authority are marked with a blue rosette icon. Tapping this icon shows the signers and certification authorities of the digital signatures present on the document.
9. Does Plico support the p7m format?
No, Plico doesn’t yet support CAdES signatures (p7m extension), it only supports PAdES signatures. But we hope to work on it.
10. Can I sign Word or Excel documents with Plico?
No, Plico can currently only view, edit, and sign documents in PDF format.
11. Is there a desktop version of Plico?
No, Plico is currently only released for iOS and Android devices.
12. How can I report an error or bug to the development team?
You can send us any errors or bugs by emailing bugs@plico.cc. Thanks in advance, reporting a bug helps us make the app better 💙
